Scope
Awareness is the ability to be conscious of, feel or perceive (Wikipedia). It implies vigilance in observing or alertness in drawing inferences from what one experiences (Merriam-Webster). The ultimate goal of aware computing is to create a computing machine/system that is able to be aware. Application examples include context awareness, situation/background awareness, power awareness, location/position awareness, weakness/risk/danger awareness, safety/security awareness, chance/opportunity awareness, etc. An aware system may not be as intelligent as a human, but it will certainly be more autonomous and more human-like than conventional systems. This workshop provides a forum for engineers, researchers, and scientists to exchange the latest results in this emerging new field. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:- Context/situation/background aware computing
- Intention/emotion/preference aware computing
- Location/position aware computing
- Power/capability aware computing
- Weakness/risk/danger aware computing
- Safety/security aware computing
- Chance/opportunity aware computing
Important Dates

Deadline for submission of 1,000 word extended summary -
June 19, 2009 (Fri):
Notification of acceptance - July 31, 2009 (Fri): (Extented!)
Submission of final camera-ready papers
Paper Submission and Publication
Acceptance of papers will be decided based on a 1,000 word extended summary. The final camera-ready papers should not exceed 6 pages. All accepted papers will be published in the proceeding of the FAN09 symposium. Well presented papers at IWAC09 will be asked to be revised, and recommended to be published in a special issue of International Journal of Innovative Computing, Information and Control (http://www.ijicic.org, indexed by SCI) on Aware Computing.
Paper Submission System of IWAC09
Registration
The registration policy will be the same as the FAN09 Symposium.
See the
web page of FAN09 for detail.
