The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. To be well-being, physical fitness will be required. Hence, wellness is essential for well-being. wellness is the quality or state of being in good health especially as an actively sought goal. In other words, wellness refers to the attitudes and behaviors of people who actively seek to maintain and improve their physical and mental health. Physical fitness forms the basis of wellness. Positive physical activity is directly related to promoting physical and mental health and well-being, extending life expectancy, and reducing the risk of obesity and non-communicable diseases. Therefore, appropriate physical education (PE) based on health and sports science knowledge has the greatest impact on lifelong health and well-being (SDG Goal 3). Health and sports science courses are designed to help students understand their own physical fitness according to their developmental stage based on appropriate knowledge of physical training, develop social skills through sports activities, and acquire competencies of wellness to maintain and promote health.
