Symposium "Future Perspectives of International Cooperation Programs in the University of Aizu"

The University of Aizu Center for Strategy of International Programs hosted the symposium "Future Perspectives of International Cooperation Programs in the University of Aizu" for three days from Wednesday, February 27, to Friday, February 29.
The University of Aizu has now cooperative agreements with 30 universities overseas and has been promoting active international exchange programs and productive joint-research with these universities for the puropose of global development. The symposium was held to explore methods of nurturing global human resources and contributing to local communities through international cooperation programs, focusing on a new approach regarding exchange with universities in China. Two keynote addresses titled "Strategy of Peking University New Campus in Wuxi and International University" and "IT and Strategy for Globalization of Agriculture", and a panel discussion for the symposium took place on February 28, which was opened to the public. Approximately 80 people from within and outside the campus participated in the symposium to contemplate further globalization of the University and its contribution to the development of local communities.
Other programs for the sympoisum were also held. Special sessions centering on 4 themes, "Ubiquitous Computing", "Digital Arts", "Computer Architecture and Networking", and "IT Education" were held on Wednesday, February 27, and presentations were given by experts in these fields including faculty members from the University of Aizu. Informal discussions regarding "Globalization of Aizu Venture Businesses" was held on Friday, February 29, and invitied speakers from local venture companies discussed the issue.
