AY 2009 Entrance Ceremony

Oath by students

The University of Aizu held the AY 2009 Entrance Ceremony on Thursday, April 2, from 10:00 a.m. at the Auditorium. A total of 328 students were admitted; 262 for the Undergraduate, 58 for the Master's program and 8 for the Doctoral Program of the Graduate School.
President Tsunoyama of the University of Aizu delivered an address of welcome stating that "We have been facing the global economic crisis that is said to be the worst in the century. Many of you might have concerns about the careers in the future. Now, I would strongly encourage you to find good friends and faculty members whom you can constantly consult with, and to acquire characteristic educational content that the University will provide in this environment. That is one of the best measures to be taken to overcome this employment ice age, I believe." Following congratulatory speeches from Mr. Yuhei Sato the Govoernor of Fukushima Prefecture and other guests, Mr. Shun Aotsu (the School of Computer Science and Engineering) and Mr. Yoshiaki Hagane (the Master's Program of the Graduate School of Computer Science and Engineering) took oaths, representing students newly admitted.
After the ceremony, new students walked out to have a commemorative picture taken through current students waiting in line to welcome them.
