Signing of an Agreement with the School of Software/School of Computer Science and Technology of Harbin Institute of Technology
On Thursday, June 14, 2007, President Shigeaki Tsunoyama of The University of Aizu visited Harbin Institute of Technology (hereinafter referred to as "HIT"), in China.
The purpose of the visit was to conclude an agreement on promotion of mutual understanding and collaboration between the School of Software/School of Computer Science
and Technology of HIT and the Graduate School of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of Aizu in terms of higher education, science
and technology. Professor Xiaofei Xu, Dean of the Schools of HIT and Professor Nikolay N. Mirenkov, Dean of the Graduate School and Vice President
of the University signed the agreement. Professor Shigaku Tei, Director of the University-Business Innovation Center, who has played
an important role in this exchange with HIT, also attended the signing ceremony.
This agreement includes the promotion of a dual degree program (*) on a graduate school level, and a memorandum regarding the specifics for implementation of
the program was also signed at the ceremony.
Based upon the agreement, exchange of information, provision of books, publications, and documents concering higher education and scientific research
activities, mutual exchange and visitations by faculty members and students, and acceptance of students to the University under the memorandum, will be implemented in the future.

- A system where students can earn two degrees, from the home and the partner university, through mutual recognition of credits attained at the universities.
