The University was honored on September 18 by a visit by the Crown Prince and Princess, who had visited Fukushima Prefecture to honor with their presence the National Forestation Ceremony (``Ikujusai").

President Noguchi gave a brief description of the University to them. Then they visited the Language Media Laboratory (LML) of the Center for Language Research and the Multimedia Center (MMC). They enjoyed the experience in understanding differences in pronunciation of English words between Japanese and American speakers on the language education system at the LML. At the MMC, two demonstrations of super high-speed network research were presented. One was on automatic network-map generation technology for IPv6 networks and the other one was on video telemonitoring technology of home-care patients. They also took the time to speak to each of the students who were there working on research and development of software for the Beautiful Fukushima Future Expo. They responded to a hearty welcome extended by people on campus with smiles. They showed a great interest in the educational environment and the advanced technology of the University.
