The Core and Information Technology Center (Abbreviated name: CITEC, Director of the Center: Vice President of the University of Aizu), which has been working on the next-generation super high speed networks, held a kickoff ceremony at the Multimedia Center on January 21, 2000.
Approximately 100 people consisting of the University President, the Vice President, the University Personnel concerned, the Aizu Junior Chamber and the people concerned of Aizu-Bange Town, etc. attended the ceremony. As a demonstration, a test was carried out that the university was linked with the CATV in Nishi-Aizu machi, High-Tech Plaza in Koriyama City and Okinawa Prefecture. In addition, a long-distance transmission test was carried out that the university was linked with the¡ÈNetwork Center¡Éof the NTT America located in Cupertino, U.S.A..
