The University of Aizu Advisory Council for FY 2001

ĦĦThe University of Aizu Advisory Council was established in 1994 as a consultative organization to the President of the University to deliberate on important matters concerning the University of Aizu.

ĦĦIn 2001, all members appointed to the Council were new members, except for Chairperson Isao Amagi, so that the University could receive various advice and suggestions from them concerning important issues particularly related to the University's future plans.

ĦĦThe Council welcomed twelve new members; Dr. Hideo Aiso, President of Tokyo Engineering University, Mr. Akito Arima, former Minister of Education, Ms. Ritsuko Ito, Executive Director of Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK: Japan Broadcasting Corporation), Dr. Yasuyoshi Inagaki, Professor of the Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University, Mr. Jiro Ushio, Chief Executive Officer and Chairperson of Ushio Inc., Ms. Yukako Uchinaga, Executive Director of IBM Japan, Ltd., Dr. Reona Esaki, President of Shibaura Institute of Technology, Dr. Hisatake Kato, President of Tottori University of Environmental Studies, Dr. Yahiko Kanbayashi, Professor at the Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University, Ms. Mitsuko Shimomura, Journalist, Mr. Tadashi Sekizawa, Chief Director and Chairperson of Fujitsu, Ltd., and Dr. Hideo Miyahara, Professor at the Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University.

ĦĦOn May 29th this year, the new members gathered in Tokyo for the first Advisory Council meeting and had lively discussions on various topics.
