ĦĦOn June 7th, 2001, a ceremony for the conferment of the titles of Professor Emeritus to Dr. Tosiyasu L. Kunii (a former President of the University of Aizu, and presently a professor of Hosei University) and Dr. Noguchi (the previous President of the University of Aizu, and presently an advisor to Fukushima Prefecture) took place at the University of Aizu Auditorium, followed by commemorative lectures by these laureates.
ĦĦAfter they were awarded the title of the Professor Emeritus by President Ikegami, Dr. Kunii delivered a keynote lecture under the title, ``The University of Aizu, An Internet University - Recreating the World -", as did Dr. Noguchi, ``Next Generation Communication Technology and The University of Aizu". A number of people who have supported the University attended the ceremony to celebrate the conferment of the title of Professor Emeritus to these two professors. A party to celebrate the conferment was held at the Aizu Wakamatsu Washington Hotel in the evening of the same day.
