The Fukushima-Shanghai international Symposium on Computer and Information Technology, Nov 6-7, 2000

As an important step to promote exchange between Fukushima Prefecture and Shanghai City, this symposium was proposed by and held at the University of Aizu. Three delegations from biggest universities in Shanghai, Shanghai University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Fudan University, participated the meeting. The symposium was jointly held with IS2000. About twenty professors from the four universities, including the president and vice president of the University of Aizu, have made contributions to the meeting. All papers and presentations were of very high level, representing latest research in advanced reviews in computer and information technology, Web and network-based technologies, modeling and algorisms for networking and computer graphics, image and character recognition, and applications in biomedical engineering. All attendees were satisfied with the success of the opportunity as a first step to establish intercollegiate relationships, and agreed to hold the second symposium at Shanghai in 2001, which is now organized by the University of Shanghai.
