The fifth University of Aizu Campus Festival was held from October 10 to 19, 1997. When the festival was held jointly with the junior college in fiscal 1996, the opportunity was taken to change its name from ``Shousousai" to ``Soushousai". The ``Soushousai" festival has been held twice and was even larger and better than the previous ones. Furthermore, in the case of this fiscal year's campus festival, an opening ceremony associated with the inauguration of the ``Home Town Municipal District Committee" was held at the same time and there were lectures by Nobuhiko Obayashi and others. The university-sponsored ``Open Campus", a well established tradition, also took place and some seminar rooms were opened to the public.
