Editorial Closing Remark

It is our great pleasure to bring you the Annual Review 1998 in which you will find our activities in 1998.

Recently the speed of expansion in the area of the Information Technology is very quick with triggering social revolution in the beginning of the next century by merging many fields. The Computer Science and Engineering becomes one of significant ones in the new arena and is forced to change its shape from the legacy to the more innovative. I like to hope we could contribute to the big change and transition as well as to an impact of the academia. We also hope to collaborate with you as a challenger and an explorer towards the millennium.

I would appreciate your support and consideration to the University of Aizu that is still young and has more than half members of Faculty from outside of Japan.

Yours sincerely,

October 1999. Tetsuhiko Ikegami, Vice President
