In fiscal year 2000, several major changes occured in the Computer Industry Laboratory.

1. A company placed within the lab by Prof. Ikeda left the lab.
2. Prof. Ikeda left the Computer Industry Lab to join the former mentioned company in Tokyo.
3. Prof. Paik was appointed to the Computer Industry Laboratory.

As a consequence of (1) and (2), finally, appropriate spacing for students and faculty other than Prof. Ikeda is available again. The left-overs, and garbage accumulated by several student hobby-groups, which were given higher priviledges by Prof. Ikeda in the laboratory than fellow colleagues, have been cleaned. In the new fiscal year 2001, student research space (small booths), and re-installment of a functioning UNIX-cluster for research and study are under way. Prof. Schmitt could return to the Computer Industry Laboratory with his research equipment.

Several research articles were published in FY2000 by Computer Industry Lab members.
