Performance Evaluation Laboratory |
Kouhei Otsuyama Assistant Professor |
Hiroshi Toyoizumi Assistant Professor |
The performance evaluation laboratory is part of the Department of Software, the University of Aizu. The laboratory mission in the broad sense is to contribute to:
- Theoretical Aspects of Performance Evaluation of Computer andCommunications Systems
- Tools and Techniques for the Performance Evaluation of Computer and Communications Systems
- Applications to Computer and Communications Systems : Evaluations and Performance
During fiscal year 2001 the laboratory was composed of two faculty members. Current research interests include:
- Performance evaluation of computer security system: Evaluating security system in network is becoming very important. We use mathematical model, representing such systems as public key infrastructure, computer virus and denial of service attack, to evaluate the security systems on network.
- Performance evaluation of bioinformatics: Bioinformatics deals with huge amount of data. The eAEciency of the data processing is one of the crucial points in bioinformatics. By evaluating current methods, we can improve the efficiency of the tools used in bioinformatics.

[toyo-001:2001] | Hiroshi Toyoizumi. Locally-Deterministic Evaluation of Traffic for Performance@Guarantee. In 11th INFORMS Applied Probability Society Conference, 2001. Traffic theory and queueing theory depend heavily on the probabilistic behavior of systems and users. On the other hand, in the context of internet, deterministic analysis are proposed to evaluate the strict and non-probabilistic delay bounds for leaky bucket type inputs. In this paper, we propose a method to migrate the locally-deterministic flow constraint of the input into the global probabilistic structure. Using block renewal process argument, we demonstrate how we can get the delay bound distribution on each hop in the network. |
