Anh T. Pham was born in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam. He received the B.E. and M.E. degrees, both in Electronics Engineering from the Hanoi University of Technology, Vietnam in 1997 and 2000, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in Information and Mathematical Sciences from Saitama University, Japan in 2005.

From 1998 to 2002, he was with the NTT Corp. in Vietnam. Since April 2005, he has been on the faculty at the University of Aizu, where he started as 1/4 Professor, became 1/2, 3/4 Professor in 2007 and 2011, respectively, then Full Professor of Computer Communications in 2015.

Dr. Pham's research interests are in the broad areas of communication theory and networking with a particular emphasis on modeling, design and performance evaluation of wired/wireless communication systems and networks. He received the Japanese government scholarship (MonbuKagaku-sho) for Ph.D. study, and the Vietnamese government scholarship for undergraduate study. Dr. Pham is a senior member of IEEE. He is also a member of IEICE and OSA.

Besides the academic career, Dr. Pham is also a
distance runner, and he rose faster in this endeavor. He started running in early 2009, became 1/4 Marathoner sometime in Apr. 2009 then 1/2 Marathoner in Oct. 2009 after completing first ever 21 km in 2:07. He officially became Full Marathoner on Nov. 27, 2011 after finishing the Tsukuba marathon in 4:51. Continuing the both rises, his next goals are to become Double Professor, Double Marathoner, then Triathloner (not necessarily in that order).
