Signing of Agreements with Peking University

From Tuesday, November 20, 2007, a delegation from the University of Aizu, headed by President Tsunoyama, traveled to China visiting Chinese universities for observational visits and disucussions on agreements to be concluded.
The delegation visited Peking University (PKU) on Wednesday, November 21. Although an exchange agreement between the University's Center for Mathematical Sciences and the Joint Center for Nuclear Physics of PKU was signed in Septemper of 2005, a general agreement was newly signed with School of Software and Microelectronics of PKU during this visit. A memorandum regarding a dual degree program (DDP, *1), and an agreement to establish the Center for University-Business International Research Consortium (*2), were also signed. Based upon the agreements, information exchange and data provision regarding education and research, mutual exchange of faculty members and students through cooperation in joint research and other projects are expected.
The delegation also visited the Wuxi Campus of PKU on Saturday, November 24.


(*1) Dual Degree Program
A system where students can earn two degrees, from the home and the partner university, through mutual recognition of credits attained at the universities.
(*2) Center for the University-Business International Research Consortium
A center will be established at each of universities for the purpose of conducting research and development regarding information technology, with a special focus on ubiquitous computing in mutual collaboration. The centers will provide technical assistance and consulting, personnel training services to promote development of industries related to ubiquitous computing, and also will cooperate in university-business collaboration.
