Signing of Memorandums regarding Dual Degree Programs with Shanghai University and Fudan University in China

A delegation from the University of Aizu, headed by President Tsunoyama, visited two of our international partners in China, Shanghai University on Monday, November 26, and Fudan University on Tuesday, November 27.
The delegation held discussions regarding dual degree programs (DDP) between graduate schools of the University of Aizu, the School of Computer Engineering and Science of Shanghai Univeristy and Fudan University's School of Information Science and Engineering. As a result, an agreement was made on signing of memorandums regarding DDPs and implementation methods to be considered, such as admission policies, capacities and educational models. Signatories of the memorandums were Professor Mirenkov, Dean of the Graduate School from the University, Professor Zhang Wu, Dean of the School from Shanghai University, and Professor Ying Zhifeng, Vice Dean of the School from Fudan University.
A DDP is a system where students can earn two degrees, from the home and the partner university through mutual recognition of credits attained at the universities, and the goal of the program includes fostering excellent human resorces educated internationally, as well as strengthening relations between partner universities through concrete exchanges.
Soon after the conclusion of the memorandums, interviews for candidates of the program were conducted. There are high expectations for these programs scheduled to start in Autumnof 2008.
