Signing Ceremony for a Fundamental Agreement regarding Exchange and Collaboration with Kyoto University of Foreign Studies

On Thursday, November 29, 2007, the University of Aizu signed a fundamental agreement regarding exchange and collaboration with Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (KUFS).
The signing ceremony was held at a conference room of the University of Aizu, begining at 3:15 p.m.. After speeches given by President Shigeaki Tsunoyama of the University and President Tetsushi Horikawa of KUFS, they signed an agreement.
While the University has recently put a focus on exchange agreements with universities overseas, agreements with Japanese universities within the Prefecture have been concluded regarding credit transfer systems. This exchange agreement with KUFS marks the first time the University has concluded an official agreement with a Japanese university outside Fukushima Prefecture. KUFS has been known as an advanced university providing leading-edge education in foreign languages. The University can expect to gain many benefits from this agreement, especially regarding cooperation in education basically conducted in English and its improvement. Regarding collaboration in computer education, joint research on information technology in the field of language studies is also expected.
