A Warm Welcome for Professor Cary Laxer and four students from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (U.S.A.)
On Wednesday, April 2, 2008, the University of Aizu held an informal gathering to welcome Professor Laxer
and four students from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology who are currently visiting the University of Aizu.
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and the University of Aizu have strengthened their relationship since
the conclusion of a general agreement on June, 2006 and the conclusion of the Memorandum of Agreement for
an International Credit Exchange Program (ICEP) of in November, 2007. Through this program, these four students
will be staying in Aizu for four months, and will be taking courses and studying to earn credits at our University.
Professor Laxer is also scheduled for a stay of four months. He has been invited to our University on a program to
which the University was accepted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, which aims
to promote internationalization of higher education in Japan. As one of his aims during his stay, Professor Laxer
will give seminars regarding undergraduate education conducted at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
During a pleasant informal exchange, President Tsunoyama encouraged the students saying, "I believe this
four-month stay will be a good opportunity for you to also see and learn about the history and culture of Aizu while
studying at the University."
