AY 2008 Public Lectures Start!!
The University of Aizu public TRY-series workshop lecture, "Study English with Video and Computer
Games" was held on Saturday, May 31, 2008. Assistant Professor Jonathan deHaan of the Center for
Language Research introduced a unique way to study English using video and computer games. Participants
learned ways to improve their reading, listening, writing and speaking skills in English through
hands-on experience to. Playing games with English audio/subtitles can positively affect understanding
of stories and words through screen images. Participants seemed to enjoy learning English through the
games they selected which suited their skills and needs.
The University of Aizu, through its public lectures in AY 2008, offers various lectures and TRY-series
