President Tsunoyama's Visit to Kyoto University of Foreign Studies

On Thursday, June 5, President Tsunoyama of the University of Aizu visited Kyoto University of Foreign Studies (KUFS) with Director Orr of the Center for Language Research and Deputy Director General Ishikawa of the Department for Student Affairs. It was the first time for President Tsunoyama to visit KUFS since a fundamental agreement regarding exchange and collaboration was signed with KUFS in November of last year.
President Tsunoyama made a courtesy visit with President Horikawa of KUFS and expressed his hopes for the exchange, stating that "I have hopes that our future exchanges using English common to both of our universities will be very useful to the development of our students". A meeting for information exchange meeting regarding education and research activities was followed by the visit with the attendance of Dean Kubo of the Faculty of Foreign Studies from KUFS. Characteristics of English education and curriculum conducted at both universities were mutually introduced and opinions about each approach were also exchanged. The visit, including a tour of the campus to observe educational environment at KUFS, was a good opportunity to deepen the concept of future exchanges and collaboration.
President Tsunoyama is seeking practical ideas for future exchanges and considering the possibility of jointly developing software for international tourism common to Kyoto and Aizu where the universities are located.
