Open Campus in Summer of 2008
The University of Aizu Open Campus in Summer of 2008 was held on Sunday, August 3, with participation of approximately 650 people
including high school students and their guardians from within and outside the Prefecture.
The event started with a university information session which introduced the University's curriculum, English education and admissions,
and also provided campus tours to interesting facilities of the University, laboratory tours arranged by research topics, short
lectures, consultation services for admissions and campus life, etc.
Participants had opportunities to experience methods to send e-mail using UNIX workstations which is different from an operational perspective
compared to PCs, and to participate in lectures conducted in English by international faculty members. At each laboratory, leading-edge
researches in various fields of computer science and engineering were introduced in the demonstrations. The visitors were able to experience
what it feels like being a University student and expressed their interests and deepened their understanding of the University.
