President Tsunoyama Meets the Deputy Minister of MOET of Vietnam
The University of Aizu Mission visits Universities and IT companies in Hanoi

President Tsunoyama of the University of Aizu made a courtesy visit to Deputy Minister Banh Tien Long of the Ministry of Education and Training
(MOET) of Vietnam on November 13. The Ministry functions as a governmental organization with responsibilities similar to that of
the Ministry of Education , Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan.
The President introduced the University's specialized education in Information Technology conducted in English and its active acceptance of
international students, and also conveyed his intention to enhance partnerships with leading universities in Vietnam during his visit with Deputy
Minister Long. Deputy Minister Long explained a national program to train 20,000 Ph.Ds in the next 13 years and the demand in Vietnam for
nurturing of human resources for IT-related industries.
The Deputy Minister expressed expectations for cooperation between the University of Aizu and universities in Vietnam regarding curriculum
developments, and stated that "provision of scholarships would be considered for students to study at the University of Aizu's
international environment."
The aim of the visit to Vietnam was to exchange information and discuss potential collaborative research and educational programs with 4
universities in Hanoi and to inspect Vietnam IT industries and overseas branches of Japanese IT companies. The University of Aizu
signed a general agreement with Posts and Telecommunications Institute and Technology (PTIT) on the 12th, and with Hanoi University
of Technology (HUT) on the 13th. The delegation also visited FPT Software Company, the leading provider of software outsourcing services
in Vietnam, and discussions regarding the possibility of sending the University's students to participate in internship programs at the company
were held.
Director Iwase of the Center for Strategy of International Programs and Assistant Professor Anh T. Pham accompanied the President on this visit
and returned to Japan on the 16th.
