A University of Aizu student is going to participate in "The Ship for Southeast Asia Youth Program 2006."
Mr. Kenichi Kimura, a first-year student in the Master's Program at the Graduate School of the University of Aizu, is going to participate in "The 33rd Ship for Southeast Asia Youth Program 2006." This program is supported by the Cabinet Office for the purpose of nurturing Japanese youths who are able to exercise their leadership in various fields of international society, by broadening the international perspectives of Japanese youths and promoting mutual understanding and friendship among Japanese and Asian youths in conjunction with advancing the spirit of international cooperation and their practical skills.
After completing preliminary training starting from the end of this month to the beginning of next month and training immediately preceding departure, Mr. Kimura is scheduled to participate in the 43 day-long program from Monday, October 23 to Monday, December 4, 2006, and will visit countries such as Brunei, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Approximately 40 persons from Japan are going to take part in this program, and Mr. Hiroto Watanabe, a graduate from the eighth class of the University of Aizu, is also going to participate in this program.
