An AY 2006 Symposium Supported by Fukushima Prefecture Higher Education Meeting took place at the University of Aizu
An AY 2006 symposium supported by Fukushima Prefecture Higher Education Meeting took place at the University of Aizu on Saturday, November 25, with attendance by 60 persons.
The symposium started with an opening address by the organizer, Vice President Katsumi Nakai of Fukushima University, acting as the deputy to the President of Fukushima Prefecture Higher Education Meeting, followed by an address by President Shigeaki Tsunoyama of the University of Aizu, a symposium organizer, and a keynote lecture under the title, "Local Community Renovation and Town Planning," by Professor Hiroshi Suzuki, Director of Fukushima University Lifelong Learning Research Center.
The symposium then proceeded to a panel discussion session on the theme, "Living in Harmony with Local Communities," with Professor Fumio Mori, Director General of the Department for Students Affairs of the University of Aizu Junior College Division, serving as the discussion coordinator. Professor Koichi Ota, Director of the Center for Cultural Research and Studies of the University of Aizu, Professor Shigaku Tei, Director of the University-Business Innovation Center, and Mr. Masashi Kiyokawa, Representative Director of Aizu NPO Center joined the discussion as panelists, who exchanged opinions regarding relationships between local communities and their citizens, as well as prospects and tasks for the future.
