It is my great pleasure to bring you our 2004 Annual Review which reports our activities during the 2003 academic year. Founded in 1993, the University of Aizu is a young and energetic new school, consisting of The School of Computer Science and Engineering (serving approximately 1,000 undergraduate students) and the Graduate School (serving approximately 200 graduate students), with 90 faculty members joining from 11 countries, 40 Modern human life is supported everywhere by computer chips and software technologies, and the reality has made research and education in computer science and computer engineering more important than ever before. Under the new circumstance, paying Ubiquitous Computer Society, important is productive collaborative works and activities between universities, society, business/industry, and government to enable rapid and eAEcient solutions to the many issues that surround us. We hope we will exploit it together in this very important work.
