Software Engineering Laboratory is based on that the basic concept of our investigation can be defined as follows: If research in computer science can be categorized as either science or technology, our research focuses on science which is the analysis of natural phenomena. As mentioned above, society's dependency on computers continues to increase as exemplified by the latest models of mobile phones for multiple functions including payment. WEB applications are a current priority of software applications and the corresponding branch of software engineering is growing very fast. Our laboratory is doing its best to exploit this tendency and teach our software engineering students Internet applications. Multi-agent and intelligent systems are crucial components of software dedicated for online communities. We explore how to creatively design and implement such systems. The immediate goal of the Software Engineering Lab is to support specialists who develop new technologies for the newer applications, to test obtained by them results in controlled experiments and offer successful technologies for use after conducting joint trial engineering experiments. Our Laboratory staffs are constructed with three members as Prof. Minetada Osano and Prof. Alexander Vazhenin and Dr. Ashu Marasinge.. We involve our students in research and offer them different types of research themes. They are as follows:

One of the main problems of parallel and GRID technologies is to obtain information about execution of remote programs. In this paper we propose the on-line WWW-monitoringscheme for real-time watching of remote MPI-processes. The key-point of this scheme is that each process can actively report its state to the special WWW-server, which is responsible for correct and on-time collecting of process data. The user can specify the monitoring operations by means of the special C-library designed. It is extremely useful for large-scale jobs, which may require the execution time about several hours, days or more. The design was implemented in the framework of the WWW-based Workplace of Applied Programmer (W4AP). From the user's viewpoint, this workplace represents an application-oriented virtual machine being accessible via standard WEB-browsers. |

The paper presents the main elements of the WWW-based Project Management System to provide development of a big variety of user's applications. The system has an universal interface allowing comfortable manipulations with the project data. The system supports di??erent types of the user's projects distinguished according to programming platforms and languages, type of a target machine (sequential or parallel), user's specialization, etc. The set of projects for Distance Learning is also shown. |

This paper describes basic elements of the Web-based platform for multimedia programming which is designed in the framework of the WWW-oriented Workplace of Applied Programmer (W4AP). The proposed platform is hiding the insignificant features of software and hardware from the applied programmers and provides the unified style for different programming development tools, comfortable environment combining visual and multimedia programming technologies. The architecture of the W4AP server is shown supporting a programming process and manipulations with multimedia data. The examples are demonstrated of the practical use of proposed platform as well as user interface features. |

InProc. of the Tenth International Conference on Distributed Multimedia Systems (DMS'2004), pages 69-74, San-Francisco, USA, Sep. 2004. Knowledge Systems Institute, USA. |
This work is a part of the filmification of methods technology which is based on the visual algorithm representation using an algorithmic CyberFilm concept. Within this concept eachalgorithm is represented through multiple views and a space-time metaphor. Usually, to specify an algorithm, it is necessary to define space structures and traversal schemes for visiting nodes of these structures. In addition, variables attributes of space structures and nodes should be declared and operations (formula sequences) to be performed in visiting nodes should be defined. A main focus of this paper is a special multimedia subsystem for the variable declaration and the formula sequence definition. This subsystem uses a special multimedia language with high-level constructions and operators in order to make the programming process more efficient and comfortable. Enhanced text-oriented terms, tables, images and stencils are used for representing the arithmetical and logical expressions. The multimedia language syntax and semantic, user interface and automated code generation aspects are described in this paper. The formula editor and the variable declaration components of implemented software are also discussed. |

In the presented work, we discuss a concept of the Movie-Based Programming based onmovie-like representation of algorithms and methods. It provides correspondence between algorithmic movie frames and problem solution steps that any frame should visualize/animate a part of a program/algorithm execution. The programming process is in manipulating with special movie-program objects (MP-objects) generating automatically a part of an executable code as well as producing frames, which are adequate to the code generated. It also includes a special multimedia language with high-level constructions and operators in order to make the programming process more efficient and comfortable. Both movie and programcan synchronously be generated and debugged. A debugging scheme allows visualizing and controlling all references to the structure elements. |
