- Becoming a center for sustained development in local society, culture and industry While preparing them, Fukushima government requested us that our efforts mainly concentrate to university-business in the local community. The presence of the university has a great influence on the local economy. The level of sales attained by venture businesses in the community is currently equal to that of some traditional industries.

It is my great pleasure to bring you our 2006 Annual Review which reports our activities during the 2006 academic year. In April, 2006, the University of Aizu has been reformed into a public university corporation which focuses on education and research in computer science and engineering. To operate the university corporation, mid-term goals and mid-term plans were drowned up. The following three are basic goals: From a global view, China Russia and India are active in IT fields and many professors at the university are from these countries. So their expertise shall be utilized for diversified development and cultivation of markets for local venture businesses in the future We hope we will exploit our research results with society and business/industry.
