Office for Planning and Promotion (OPP)

The University of Aizu aims to become a front-line university providing the most excellent range of the most up-to-date educational and research activities in the field of computer science and engineering internationally. It is a unique institution unparalleled by any other existing Japanese university’s hiring policy of internationally open and competitive faculty positions. International faculty members filled the majority of seats at the beginning.

The University of Aizu realized the need for a planning and management division that exclusively dedicated to the advancement of the University, the study of its future directions, and the making of original plans. This need led to the establishment of the Office for Planning and Promotion headed by the University President.

At present, OPM was renamed OPP and we cooperate with all administrative organizations to support university operations.

Major Tasks of OPP

The following listed matters regarding the UNIVERSITY (excluding matters within the jurisdiction of the Junior College Division)

  1. Matters execution of affairs specially assigned by the University President and regents (collection of data and information for discussion on future vision of the UNIVERSITY and preparation of relevant reports)

  2. Matters concerning compilation of internal investigations and evaluations regarding situation on education and research, etc., which is conducted in accordance with provisions of Article 109 of School Education Law

  3. Matters concerning compilation of evaluations related to education and research from among items on university accreditation concerning overall situation of the UNIVERSITY by the institution for university evaluation, based on provisions of Article 109 of School Education Law

  4. Matters concerning compilation of achievements of faculty members

  5. Matters concerning applications for subsidies for education and research

  6. Matters concerning employment of faculty members

  7. Matters concerning assistance of applications for research fund by non-Japanese faculty members

  8. Other matters concerning execution of necessary items for planning and management for the UNIVERSITY
